Social Media Tips and Tricks: Pt. 2

When it comes to social media, there's a lot to cover. Take a look at this list of things you should be doing to improve your social media strategy.

1. Complete Your Social Profiles

Nothing looks worse than an incomplete profile. No photo, missing information, no contact information? These are common mistakes first time managers make, frequently. While it may seem like a minor detail, it reflects poorly on your business. Increase your chances of gaining new users by completing my profiles.

2. Cross-Promotion

It's true that your audience on Twitter will be different from your audience on Facebook, partially. But we know that there's a lot of crossover between platforms. While giving each platform its own unique identity and catering to that audience is the best move, it's also a good idea to cross-promote your pages.

Find an opportunity to share your Twitter handle in an Instagram post, tweet content from your Youtube channel, use your TikTok videos in Reels.

3. Ephemeral Content Is On Trend

Ephemeral content is content that will disappear after a short period of time. That is: Snapchat, Instagram Stories, etc. By the end of last year, a majority of marketers had employed this type of content into their social media strategy.

Reach consumers with disappearing content. It plays well into the algorithm, consumers view the content, and it can also be saved for later.

4. Alternative Platforms

Niche platforms are growing in popularity, and certainly have their place in your social strategy. Apps like TikTok, Twitch, and LinkedIn are all effective channels to share your message outside of the mainstream social community.

TikTok gained immediate popularity with Gen. Z while LinkedIn is important in the B2B community. Assuming either of these can play a meaningful role in your communications, they should be considered.

5. Alternative Content

It shouldn't be a secret that post consisting of only text is incredibly boring, and likely won't generate a lot of engagement. Visual communication is an important element of your social media strategy, and will be a worthwhile investment.

Photography, videography, and graphic design will be important to include in your posts.

For example, videos are good element to lean into when it comes to content creation. Some studies have concluded that in only a few years, a majority of online content will be video. Posts including video often plays well into the Facebook platform, works well with Instagram Stories and Reels, and is what TikTok is all about.

This versatile tactic provides you content that can span your portfolio of platforms.
